We just arrived in Miami yesterday where we’ll be spending 2 nights before travelling on to the Bahamas to carry on our missionary work there. Whenever we pass through this part of the world, we usually stay with our good friend Tino who was a faithful missionary in Romania for many years before returning to Miami to help look after his mother. Here’s a photo from our last visit to his house in October 2011, when he was starting a kettle corn business to help paythe bills, (like popcorn but better!).
When we arrived yesterday evening, we saw the same van in the driveway but completely wrecked. We found Tino’s account to be quite an amazing testimony of God’s miraculous protection! Tino was driving through an intersection at night, in the correct lane & having waited for the green light. Another car had come from the opposite direction & was waiting to turn left. Suddenly this other vehicle decided to cross Tino’s lane without waiting for him to pass—apparently he hadn’t seen Tino’s vehicle (???). Tino swerved to avoid a direct collision but the other car still hit his van on the side & knocked it sideways so that it rolled over twice before coming to rest in the opposite lane, pointing in the opposite direction!
Amazingly, although the van was a write-off, Tino himself was completely unharmed & after being transported to the hospital by rescue services, was declared free of all apparent injury! His popcorn making equipment was also unharmed, & so fortunately neither he nor his delicious ‘kettle corn’ came to an untimely end.
