Mykal’s Curry Kona!
Mykal’s Curry Kona!
posted August 23rd
Those following our weekly blog will remember that we’ve been helping a young, handi-capped man, Sanjiv, & his family for several years now. Sanjiv also goes by the name of Michael or Mykal, while his brother’s name is Jackson, (leading to many jokes about Michael Jackson!).
We’ve published previous posts about getting a donated laptop for Sanjiv, along with a wifi connection from Vodafone. We’re happy to say that as a result of our getting a good lawyer to look after his compensation claim, Sanjiv has been able to invest in some catering & cooking equipment & now plans to start his own restaurant!
This week is Hibiscus festival in Suva & so Sanjiv & family have opened a stall called Mykal’s Curry Kona, (the last word being a Fiji adaptation of the word ‘corner’). This will be a kind of dress rehearsal or trial run before actually opening a fulltime restaurant somewhere in Suva.
If you’re reading this in Suva, please try to go along to restaurant number 13 & eat at Mykal’s Curry Kona before the Hibiscus festival comes to an end! Otherwise please pray with us that Sanjiv can find a suitable place to open his new restaurant. Like elsewhere, location is everything, along with an attractive shop front & good prices. We’ll keep you posted. Gotta go—we’re off to Mykal’s Curry Kona for lunch!
