Latest book distributions!
posted Sept 15th
A few weeks ago, we were very surprised to meet up by chance with a family that we hadn’t seen for 10 years. The husband, Apao, works for the famous ‘Fiji Water’ company that’s now become a worldwide success, & had shown us & our children around the factory back in 2001.
Since then we kept in touch by email & they were on our mailing list to receive monthly power points.
In one of their last emails, this precious family shared how in addition to taking a number of single mothers & needy children into their large home, they were also organising weekend activities for more than 500 children in the local area.
They asked if we could help with teaching materials & so this was on our list of possible projects to get involved with.
After our chance meeting in Suva, we made a plan for them to fill up their pick up truck with boxes of primary school books that we could then distribute to interior schools around their home town of Tavua (in the north east of Viti Levu). At the same time, they would also keep some of the books to help with their orphanage & children’s ministry.
A few days later, we took a trip up to Tavua by bus (about 5 hours drive away from Suva) & were able to distribute the boxes of educational books in needy schools both there & in nearby Rakiraki. Thank you to Oli for driving us all around & to Lance & Rachel for helping with the carrying & distributing: we all had a lot of fun!
