Last week was Fiji Day—a yearly celebration of Fiji’s independence from Great Britain in 1970! It’s a national holiday with a top notch military brass band marching through the main street of Suva, along with speeches, cake-cutting ceremony & much flag-waving! Some even get special clothes for the occasion, featuring designs centred around the Fiji flag.
We ourselves used Fiji Day to distribute some more books, clothes & toothpaste to young delinquent teenagers that are waiting for upcoming court cases. We shared with them about our missionary work, as well as our own troubled teenage years when we were close to or on the wrong side of the law! Thank you to long-time friend Mela that took us to & from the Home.
