Clothes for Christmas!
Posted Dec 21st
Remember the large donation of 4 bales, (about 600 kgs), of clothes from second-hand clothing company Value City a month ago? Well, we have enough distribution photos & stories to fill a few posts, but here to make a start is the first one!
Out of all the institutions that we’ve visited in the Suva area, Vincent House is surely one of the poorest & most in need. It’s a place that puts together old people, along with both the mentally & physically handicapped that don’t fit in anywhere else. On previous occasions that we’ve visited, we’ve donated sheets & toothpaste, & on one occasion were able to facilitate a donation of mattresses. This time around we gave out 5 large bin bags of clothes. With us was Sam, a visiting volunteer from Australia that’s staying one month with us.
Besides Vincent House, we also gave clothes to various beggars around Suva city: not in a haphazard manner but to the ones that we know personally. Here below is Sue’s daughter Shelly, (visiting from France), giving to Anita. Happy Christmas!
