For many years we were sending out newsletters every 2-3 months but have slowed down since 2015, with most of our news going on our blog (the opening page on our website), as well as on (please copy & paste the link): Facebook: www.facebook.com/peterandsusan.kingston/
Here are a selection of our newsletters since 2012, covering mainly our work in Fiji, but also our trips to the Caribbean & Malaysia.
Breaking with many years of tradition, we used a totally new template for this newsletter, (Lucid Press)! It features our 2019 book distribution trip to schools around Kadavu, Fiji’s 4th biggest island, that has a population of 10,000 inhabitants.
July 2017 news from Pacific Outreach
With our house in Fiji rented out for a year, we hit the road & have been following up on friends & doing some projects at the same time: see examples of a Bible study in Taiwan, visiting a centre for the handicapped in Romania & speaking at a school in the Philippines!
Contains a Fiji Times article on our work; also recounts our book distribution trip to village schools on Vanua Balavu island, after cyclone Winston caused massive destruction, as can be seen in the photos.
Our first major island book distribution since returning to Fiji after being on medical leave in Malaysia! We asked the Ministry of Education for their list of top priority schools that were damaged by cyclone Winston, & they gave us 24 schools on 3 outer islands. Here’s the account of our trip to Koro island!
Features a full-page news article from the Fiji Sun newspaper about our recent Vanua Levu school & college distribution. We were also blessed to have 2 foreign volunteers come & stay with us: Joy from Australia & Kim from Vietnam.
We just came back from taking 80 boxes of books to Vanua Levu, Fiji’s 2nd biggest island. According to our calculations, we travelled on 230kms of mostly dirt roads & donated the books in 13 colleges, 2 primary schools & 1 kindergarten!
Shelly, (Sue’s daughter), returned to France after staying & working with us for 8 months; her warm smile & gentle manner will be missed. In other news, we received a new shipment of books from a retired school teacher in Queensland.
More distributions of Value City clothes, this time in Vugalei, Waikete & Veisari villages, as well as Suva’s main centre for the disabled; also a donation of Holiday Inn sheets to Rakiraki district hospital.
Volunteer charity worker Sam came over from Sydney & was an enormous help with our distributions! We teamed up with an Australian mining corporation to donate books in many interior village schools in the interior of Viti Levu.
Back in Fiji! This newsletter features marching in the annual Hibiscus festival parade in Suva, donating books in Chevalier Training Centre & receiving 600 kgs of clothes from Value City to give to the poor & needy….
Finishing off in the Cayman islands, we made trips to the ‘lost in time’ islands of Cayman Brac & Little Cayman to continue our programs in the schools there; after that we moved on to Jamaica – one of the most challenging places we’ve ever been in! We traveled all around the island by faith & conducted 40 drug-awareness programs in 6 weeks!
features setting out on our 10th round-the-world mission trip, starting with the Cayman islands; the miracle of finding donated accommodation straightaway despite not knowing a single person on the island; our first drug-awareness programs in the schools, transcript of newspaper article that appeared in the Cayman Compass newspaper on June 10th
also features our yearly trip to Malaysia where we did programs for the handicapped in Borneo.
Also shows happy children on Moala island receiving library books in their village schools!
